CREW Network Foundation
Founded in 1998 the CREW Network Foundation scholarship program supports future female leaders as they pursue university-level education that will lead to careers in commercial real estate. The winners are presented their awards at the CREW Network Convention & Marketplace.?CREW Network will award twenty-five (25) $5,000 academic scholarships to young women in 2020. Since 2008 CREW Network and its Foundation have awarded 171 scholarships totaling $1,022,500. Applications are generally accepted between January and April.
The national CREW Network Foundation goals have turned into a chapter challenge while also creating a new position for a “Pittsburgh Foundation Chapter Champion” that CREW member Sharon DiPaolo has taken to heart and is fulfilling.?
As CREW Pittsburgh Foundation Champion, Sharon has twin goals for our chapter:? first, to bring the chapter into compliance with CREW Network Foundation’s three challenges, and second, to spread the word and provide support to Pittsburgh-area college students in hopes of securing the first-ever scholarship winner from Pittsburgh.
The CREW Network Foundation challenges each local chapter to annually:
- Raise funds for the chapter to donate $1,000 to the Network Foundation.
- Have 100% of the Directors on the Board make a donation.
- Have 50% of our members make a donation.?
As for increasing scholarship applications from Pittsburgh-area students, Sharon plans on getting the message out through the Community Action Committee’s outreach to colleges.? The Community Action Committee presents panel discussions on careers in commercial real estate at local education institutions and presents the perfect forum to reach interested college students. The deadline to apply is usually at the end of April.
